There’s a geocache out there. A cache that needs maintenance that you placed in a beaver swamp means one thing…time to get wet. #geocaching (Taken with instagram)
Hot chocolate on top of Pine Mountain with Atlanta in the distance. It was a good day.
Solitude on the Benton MacKaye Trail.
We found a geocache today that is in the electrical closet of one of the tallest buildings in New Orleans. Once we had signed the log, we were allowed to go out onto the roof of the building (maintenance man had to escort us on a small private elevator to get there) for a 360 degree view of the city (from 420 feet up). He gave us all the time we needed and pointed out landmarks around the city. This was an excellent geocache where lasting memories were made.
Update: For those asking, the geocache is GCE02C.
Standing on top of a billboard to find a geocache. #geocaching (Taken with instagram)
It was a hot evening for a trail run, but we were rewarded with a geocaching FTF (first to find). Even without the geocache, any day we can be on the Pinhoti Trail is a good day.

We had a great day hiking the Pinhoti Trail in the rain. (Taken with instagram)
Someone left a used hard drive (exposed to the elements) as swag in a geocache we found today. No thanks!
It’s geocaches like this that people stumble upon and call the police thinking they’ve found a pipe bomb. The cache isn’t marked in any way, it’s not camouflaged, and it’s by a playground where it can be seen from 40-50 feet away. Not a good combination.
Geocaching around LSU.
Out with the old, in with the new.
Scenes from Braden’s 500th geocache find. We chose this one as his 500th find since it involved a nice hike (and bushwhacking) and hadn’t been found in over 2 years (3/8/2009). The cache was found only 3 times in 2007, 2 times in 2008, 1 time in 2009, it wasn’t found in 2010, and we found it in 2011.
Near the cache was an old cross. I have no clue who put it there or why it’s out in the middle of nowhere up on a mountain.
